Device management

From the view Devices you can perform administrative operations on registered devices.

The available operations allow you to edit device information, change its assignment in the organizational structure, and remove the device from eAuditor.

Available operations

Available operations may depend on the permissions you have and the system configuration.

Editing a device

Editing allows you to change the information saved for the device.

Find the device

Go to IT Infrastructure > Devices and find the device whose data you want to change.

If needed, use the search or filters.

Select Edit

Open the operations available for the device and select Edit.

Change data

Enter the required changes in the form.

The scope of available information may depend on the device type.

Save changes

Review the entered information and save the form.

After saving, the updated data will be available in eAuditor.

Assigning a device

You can assign the device to the appropriate element of the organizational structure or a user.

This allows you to organize devices according to the structure used in the organization and the owner.

Select a device

Go to IT Infrastructure > Devices and find the device you want to assign.

Select Edit

Open the available operations.

Specify the place in the structure or the user

Select the appropriate organizational unit or user.

Confirm the assignment

Review the selected item and confirm the operation.

After saving, the assignment information will be visible on the device.

Assigning from the detail card

The user and organizational structure can also be assigned directly from the device detail card.

Open the device card

Go to the view Devices, and then click the name of the device you want to manage.

Assign the device owner

In the Overview tab, find the Owner section and click Edit. Then select the user who uses the device or is responsible for it.

Assign organizational structure

In the Assigned structure section, click Edit, and then select the appropriate unit, such as a branch, department, or location.

Assigning an organizational structure makes it easier to filter devices, prepare reports, and organize assets according to the organization's structure.

Device owner and IT custodian

In the Users you can independently assign the device owner and its technical custodian:

• Owner - the user who uses the device or is responsible for it.

• IT Admin - the administrator or IT custodian responsible for technical support, configuration, and oversight of the device.

Roles Owner and IT Admin have different meanings. The owner identifies the device user, while IT Admin defines the technical custodian. The same person can perform both roles, but it is not required.

Assigning a person in the field IT Admin does not automatically grant them administrative permissions in eAuditor Cloud. User account permissions are configured separately.

Removing a device

If a device should no longer be available in eAuditor, you can remove it from the system.

Before deleting, make sure the correct device has been selected and its data is no longer needed.

Find the device

Go to IT Infrastructure > Devices and find the device you want to delete.

Select Delete

Open the operations available for the device and select Delete.

Confirm the operation

Make sure you are deleting the correct device, and then confirm the operation.

Operations on multiple devices

In the view Devices you can select one or more devices and then perform the available operation for the selected items.

Select the devices to which the operation should apply.

Select the appropriate action from those available for the selected devices.

Review the selection

Before confirming, make sure the correct devices have been selected.

Confirm the operation

Confirm execution of the selected action.

For bulk operations, pay particular attention to the selected items. The operation will be performed for all selected devices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change device information?

Yes. Find the device in the view IT Infrastructure > Devices, open the available operations and select Edit.

Can I change the device assignment?

Yes. Use the Edit operation and indicate the appropriate element of the organizational structure.

Can I perform an operation on multiple devices at the same time?

Yes, if the given operation supports multi-device actions. Select the appropriate items, and then choose the available operation. Go to multi-device operations.

Why don't I see the selected operation?

Operation availability may depend, among other things, on the permissions you have and the system configuration.

What should I do if I accidentally selected the wrong device?

Before confirming the operation, clear the selection for devices that the action should not apply to.

For bulk operations, always check the list of selected devices before performing it; the system informs you of the number of selected items above the table.

Can device deletion be undone?

Before deleting a device, make sure its data is no longer needed.

If a device was deleted by mistake, how it is restored in the system depends on the method used to register the device.
