Filtering and search

View Computers allows you to search for devices and narrow results using filters. You can search the entire table or filter data in a selected column.

To open the table, go to:

Functions > IT Infrastructure > Computers

Search across the entire table

Field Search allows you to quickly find a computer based on information available in the table.

1

Open the Computers view

Go to:

Functions > IT Infrastructure > Computers

2

Click the Search field

The field is located in the upper-right corner of the table.

pole Wyszukaj
3

Enter the search value

Enter the computer name, user, IP address, or other value you want to find. The table will display results matching the entered query.

If you do not know the full name or value, enter a fragment of it. The search scope depends on the data available in the table.

Column filtering

Column filtering lets you narrow results based on data from one specific column. Depending on the data type, you can enter text or select one of the available values.

1

Select a column

Find the column containing the data you want to use to filter computers.

2

Open the column menu

Click the three-dot icon in the header of the selected column.

3

Set the criterion

Enter the search value or select the appropriate option from the drop-down list.

4

Check the results

The table will be narrowed to computers that meet the configured criterion.

Column filters

Filters allow you to search data based on text, multiple conditions, or numeric values.

Text

  • text - contains the specified text

  • =text - contains exactly the specified text

  • text* - starts with the specified text

  • *text - ends with the specified text

  • "aa bb" - contains the exact phrase, including the space

Asterisk * indicates any string of characters before or after the entered text. Quotation marks are used to search for an exact phrase.

Combining conditions

  • aa bb - contains simultaneously aa and bb

  • aa;bb;cc - contains aa, bb or cc

  • !aa - does not contain aa

A space acts as the AND operator, a semicolon as OR, and an exclamation mark as NOT.

Numbers

  • >15 - value greater than 15

  • >=15 - value greater than or equal to 15

  • <15 - value less than 15

  • <=15 - value less than or equal to 15

  • >=100 <=200 - value in the range from 100 to 200, inclusive

Among other uses, column filters can be helpful when searching computers by:

  • user,

  • connection status,

  • organizational structure,

  • operating system,

  • eAgent version,

  • IP address,

  • date of last connection.

Available criteria depend on the type of data in the selected column.

Combining search and filters

Searching the entire table and column filters can be used at the same time. This allows you to progressively narrow the device list.

For example, you can:

  • select in the column Online computers with the Offline status,

  • limit results to a specific operating system,

  • then use the Search, to find a specific computer or user.

If the table does not display any results, check all active filters. Combining several criteria can narrow the list to zero.

Removing filters

To display the full list of computers again:

1

Remove the contents of the field Search, if it was used.

2

Check active column filters

Open the menus for the columns where criteria were previously set.

3

Remove the configured criteria

Clear the entered values or remove the selected filtering options.

4

Check the list of computers

After the criteria are removed, the table will again display the devices that were previously hidden by filters.

Refreshing data

The refresh icon is located in the upper-right corner of the table. Click it to reload and display the current data available in the view.

Refreshing the table does not force an immediate computer scan. The view displays the latest data sent by eAgent and available in eAuditor Cloud. To force a rescan, go to Actions

If the number of computers is greater than the number of rows displayed on one page, the table is divided into multiple pages.

At the bottom of the table, the following are available:

  • current page number,

  • number of available pages,

  • button Previous,

  • button Next.

Changing pages does not remove the entered search and filtering criteria.

Column settings

The column settings icon is located next to the refresh button. It lets you choose which columns are visible in the table and change their order.

A detailed description of this feature is available on the page Views and tabs.

Frequently asked questions

How is search different from column filtering?

Field Search searches data available in the table. A column filter narrows results based on values in one selected column.

Why does the table not display any computers?

Check whether the field Search still contains entered text and whether a filter is active in any column. Combining several criteria may result in no matches. Optionally, check the configuration Focus.

Can I use multiple filters at the same time?

Yes. You can filter data in several columns and use the Search and Focus. Remember that each additional criterion further narrows the results.

Why do I still see old computer data after refreshing?

Refreshing updates the table content based on information available in eAuditor Cloud. If eAgent has not yet sent new data, the last saved information will still be visible in the table. Optionally, force a scan under the Actions button.

Does changing pages remove the set filters?

No. The configured criteria remain active while navigating between result pages.

How do I change the columns visible in the table?

Click the column settings icon next to the refresh button. A detailed description is available on the page Views and tabs.
